Community Organizing And Development
This book contains seven parts. The first sets the stage, presenting a synthesis of several approaches to organizing. In part two, we discuss problems that communities face and the half-hearted responses of government. Then we provide a brief history of organizing, showing how people, by working together, have solved and continue to address many community problems. Part three focuses on two core concepts. part four deals with how people get involved and stay involved in community work. In part five focus on the social action model. In part six, we detail the social production model. An then in the epilogue, review our model for organizing and discuss our concerns about the future of community work.
